I'd put another quotation mark here, "He told mam..." because it's a continuation of the dialogue from the previous paragraph. (At least you didn't close the quotes and then re-open them as if it's another, second, speaker, because I see that a lot online from younger authors and it drives me crazy trying to figure out who's speaking!)
